10 Years of Afrobeat in Hanoi, Vietnam

2020 marked the 10 years of Hanoi’s longest running international band, Zamina. The band founded in 2010 by Tomisin Ogunbawo started as a small-time reggae band, playing cafes and bars in the Old Quarter. Over the years, has grown into more than just a band, into an international family of music makers from all walks of life. Join us to celebrate 10 years of african music and give thanks to all the Zamina family around the world!

It was a long full day with Family Fun Activities (kids friendly) and night of African music and culture at La Bodega, Long Bien on Saturday 14th November with featured other bands like Lac Wine and Hanoi’s top Afro/Reggae record collectors and vinyl spinners; DJ Slowz, Johnny Harris & Friends, DJ G.Rant.

An opening Performance from Lac Wine led to a Sundown Reggae Set by Tomi & the band. The highlight of the night was their energetic “No Backsliding” Afrocalypso Set as expected. Dancehall DJ sets went on until late.

Entry was free and fully packed. Thanks to the organizers, and vendors.

In nostalgia, we would like to shout out to all the that played the Afrocalypso beat through out the 10years in Hanoi and Vietnam.
